Discord bot

Bug reports from Discord end up in the right project

Connect a forum on your Discord server. Each forum tag stands for a project, so one forum is enough for all your projects. New posts become tasks right away – with the text and a link to the post.

Setup – step by step

  1. In VertexTask, create a code under “Discord”.
  2. Add the bot to your server with “Invite bot”. You need the “Manage Server” permission there.
  3. In Discord, enter /verbinden with the code – on the server or in a direct message to the bot. This links your Discord account.
  4. Link a forum: on the web under “Discord” → “Link forum” (choose server, forum, tag and project) or in Discord with /forum-verbinden.
  5. Done: whoever creates a post with the project’s tag in the forum creates a task – with the text and a link to the post.

One forum for all projects

Instead of one forum per project, you link individual forum tags. Whoever creates a post picks the project’s tag – the post shows up as a task in that project right away.

  • Without a tag, the bot creates a tag with the project name (for that it needs “Manage Channels”).
  • Posts without a tag are imported as soon as a tag is set.
  • Every post is imported only once.
  • Under “Discord” you see how many posts were imported, and “Sync now” checks right away.

All commands

You can also create tasks and projects directly in Discord – without opening the app. Only you see the answers to your commands.

/verbinden code:
Link your Discord account to your account (code from the app)
/todo titel: [projekt:] [faellig:]
New task, optionally with project and due date
/projekt name:
Create a new project
/aufgaben
Your open tasks, only visible to you
/forum-verbinden forum: projekt: [tag:]
Connect a forum tag to a project
/forum-trennen forum: [tag:]
Remove the connection again

Questions about the bot

Which permissions does the bot need?

To invite it, you need “Manage Server” on the server. To create new tags, the bot needs “Manage Channels”. It only reads posts in forums you link.

What happens to posts without a tag?

They wait. As soon as someone sets a linked tag, the post becomes a task.

How do I unlink a forum?

In the app under “Discord” with “Unlink”, or in Discord with /forum-trennen. Tasks that were already imported stay.

Which data does the bot store?

Title, text and link of the first post, plus the IDs of server, forum and tag. It does not store other channels or messages. More in the privacy policy.
